Hook currently supports a wide range of card types for trading, including Steam, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Razer Gold, Apple Store, Visa, American Express, PlayStation, Xbox, Walmart, Sephora, and dozens more. What moves gift card rates?

Rates aren’t arbitrary — they track supply and demand like any market. Around December, e-commerce activity spikes as businesses and shoppers stock up for the holidays, which pushes gift card demand — and rates — higher. Gaming cards in particular, like Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, tend to climb during this period as more people are home and playing.

Once the holiday rush passes, demand cools off in January and February, and rates typically dip back down as the market resets.

Beyond seasonality, individual card rates move based on how easily that card can be redeemed, current buyer appetite for that brand, and broader currency conditions. Hook’s calculator reflects all of that automatically — no manual updates, no guesswork.

    What affects gift card rates?

Gift card rates are always a bit high during the festive period, like December. The end of the year is always a peak period for all industries, especially the e-commerce industry, a lot of businesses just want to stock up, which increases the demand for gift cards.

Hook gift card rates are above the market average because we have customers’ interests at heart.

Also, gift card prices increase during the holiday season, when many people are at home. This means more people are likely to play mobile games, which in turn increases the demand for gaming gift cards like Steam, Playstation, Xbox and Google Play.

However, in response to the end-of-the-year rush, the e-commerce market is bound to adjust, and so the demand for payment methods like gift cards will drop around January. This contributes to relatively lower gift card rates in the early part of the year.

In short, it’s all demand and supply. But rest assured, Hook will give you the best.

It’s a digital or physical gift card that can be used to purchase products and services from Apple, including hardware, software, and accessories. Apple gift cards can be used online, in Apple retail stores, or over the phone.

Once you’ve redeemed your gift card, you can use it to purchase almost anything from Apple, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and more. You can also use it to pay for subscriptions, such as Apple Music, iCloud storage, and Apple Arcade.

But what if you don’t want to use your Apple gift card for a product or service from Apple? In that case, you may want to consider exchanging it for cash or another gift card. There are a few options for doing this, such as selling your gift card to a friend or family member or using a gift card exchange website. GIFT CARD – DEFINITION

gift card, also known as a gift certificate in North America, or gift voucher or gift token in the UK, is a prepaid stored-value money card, usually issued by a retailer or bank, to be used as an alternative to cash for purchases within a particular store or related businesses. Gift cards are also given out by employers or organisations as rewards or gifts.

They may also be distributed by retailers and marketers as part of a promotion strategy to entice the recipient to come in or return to the store, and at times, such cards are called cash cards. Gift cards are generally redeemable only for purchases at the relevant retail premises and cannot be cashed out, and in some situations may be subject to an expiry date or fees.

American ExpressMasterCard, and Visa offer generic gift cards that need not be redeemed at particular stores, which are widely used for cashback marketing strategies. A feature of these cards is that they are generally anonymous and are disposed of when the stored value on a card is exhausted.

From the purchaser’s point of view, a gift card is a gift, given in place of an object which the recipient may not need, when the giving of cash as a present may be regarded as socially inappropriate.

The value of a $50 Apple E-Code gift card in Naira is not fixed. On platforms like Hook, it usually ranges from ₦45,000 to ₦50,000, but several factors can make it go higher or lower:

Trusted platforms usually give fair and consistent rates compared to random online buyers.

    Exchange Rate Fluctuations

The value depends on the current US Dollar to Naira rate. When the dollar rises, gift cards usually sell for more Naira.

High demand for instant digital access to Apple services can increase the value.

    GIFT CARD – DEFINITION

gift card is also known as a gift certificate in North America, or gift voucher or gift token in the UK is a prepaid stored-value money card, usually issued by a retailer or bank, to be used as an alternative to cash for purchases within a particular store or related businesses. Gift cards are also given out by employers or organizations as rewards or gifts.

They may also be distributed by retailers and marketers as part of a promotion strategy, to entice the recipient to come in or return to the store, and at times such cards are called cash cards.
