    What affects gift card rates?

Gift card rates are always a bit high during the festive period, like December. The end of the year is always a peak period for all industries, especially the e-commerce industry, a lot of businesses just want to stock up, which increases the demand for gift cards.

Hook gift card rates are above the market average because we have customers’ interests at heart.

Also, gift card prices increase during the holiday season, when many people are at home. This means more people are likely to play mobile games, which in turn increases the demand for gaming gift cards like Steam, Playstation, Xbox and Google Play.

However, in response to the end-of-the-year rush, the e-commerce market is bound to adjust, and so the demand for payment methods like gift cards will drop around January. This contributes to relatively lower gift card rates in the early part of the year.

In short, it’s all demand and supply. But rest assured, Hook will give you the best.

    GIFT CARD – DEFINITION

gift card is also known as a gift certificate in North America, or gift voucher or gift token in the UK is a prepaid stored-value money card, usually issued by a retailer or bank, to be used as an alternative to cash for purchases within a particular store or related businesses.

Gift cards are also given out by employers or organizations as rewards or gifts.

They may also be distributed by retailers and marketers as part of a promotion strategy, to entice the recipient to come in or return to the store, and at times such cards are called cash cards.

Gift cards are generally redeemable only for purchases at the relevant retail premises and cannot be cashed out, and in some situations may be subject to an expiry date or fees.

American ExpressMasterCard, and Visa offer generic gift cards that need not be redeemed at particular stores, which are widely used for cashback marketing strategies.

A feature of these cards is that they are generally anonymous and are disposed of when the stored value on a card is exhausted.

From the purchaser’s point of view, a gift card is a gift, given in place of an object which the recipient may not need, when the giving of cash as a present may be regarded as socially inappropriate.

Apple gift cards are among the most liquid and highest-paying cards in Nigeria. Here is a detailed breakdown by denomination and region:

    DenominationPhysical Card RateeCode Rate
    $10 Apple Card₦18,600₦20,900
    $20 Apple Card₦25,200₦46,500
    $50 Apple Card₦53,000₦70,000 – ₦85,500

    $200 Apple Card₦198,000₦280,000+

5 Factors That Determine Your $50 Apple Card Payout in Naira

    1. Card Type: eCode vs Physical Card

An eCode (digital code sent by email) always attracts a higher rate than a physical card. Reasons:

    • eCodes are instantly verifiable — no photo uploads, no delays
    • Lower fraud risk means platforms pay a premium
    • Faster processing = faster payment to you

Practical difference: A $50 Apple eCode may pay ₦85,500, while the same physical card pays ₦53,000.

    2. Card Region (US, UK, Canada, Australia)

US Apple gift cards fetch the best rates in Nigeria because they are the easiest to redeem on international platforms. Here is a direct comparison:

    RegionApprox. Rate for $50
    US Apple Card₦70,000 – ₦85,500
    UK Apple Card₦60,000 – ₦72,000
    Canada Apple Card₦55,000 – ₦65,000
    Australia Apple Card₦50,000 – ₦60,000

Always state the region when selling on Hook so you receive the correct, highest applicable rate.

    3. Naira–Dollar Exchange Rate

The live Naira-to-Dollar exchange rate directly affects your payout. When the Naira weakens, gift card payouts in Naira increase:

    • At ₦1,400/$1 → a $50 card is worth ₦70,000
    • At ₦1,710/$1 → a $50 card is worth ₦85,500

Hook.ng updates its rates in real time to reflect the current interbank and parallel market rates, ensuring you always get fair value.

    4. Market Demand and Timing

Gift card demand spikes during specific periods:

    • Black Friday (November)
    • Christmas and New Year period
    • Apple product launch seasons
    • Nigerian mid-year sales events

Trading during high-demand windows can increase your payout by ₦5,000 to ₦15,000 compared to off-peak periods.

    5. Platform You Use

Not all trading platforms offer the same rates. Hook.ng consistently offers some of the highest Apple card rates in Nigeria, verified by thousands of customer reviews. The rate gap between Hook and unverified vendors on Telegram or WhatsApp can be as high as ₦20,000 on a single $50 card.

$25 Apple Gift Card: Detailed Breakdown

The $25 Apple Gift Card is one of the most traded denominations in Nigeria. Here is what you can expect for different card types:

Card TypeApprox. Rate per $1Estimated $25 Value
    USA eCode₦1,050 – ₦1,480₦26,250 – ₦37,000
    USA Physical Card₦1,040 – ₦1,440₦25,000 – ₦36,000

5 Key Factors That Affect Your $25 Apple Gift Card Rate in Nigeria

Understanding these factors helps you time your trades and maximize your payout:

    1. Card Region

Apple Gift Cards issued in the USA consistently fetch the highest rates in Nigeria. Cards from Canada, Australia, or Europe are valued slightly lower because local buyers have different redemption needs. Always specify your card’s region when trading.

    2. Card Type: eCode vs. Physical

Digital eCodes (sent by email) attract better rates than physical cards. eCodes are verified instantly, carry no shipping risk, and are preferred by buyers. If you have a choice, always opt for eCodes — the premium can be as much as ₦2,000 – ₦5,000 on a $25 card.

    3. USD/Naira Exchange Rate

Since Apple Gift Cards are priced in USD, the Naira rate moves with the Dollar. When the Naira weakens against the Dollar (more Naira per $1), your card fetches more. When Naira strengthens, the Naira value drops. Monitoring the official and parallel market rates gives you an edge.

    4. Market Demand and Supply

Demand for Apple Gift Cards spikes during Apple product launches, back-to-school seasons, Black Friday, and Christmas. During these periods rates rise. In quieter months, there may be an oversupply of cards, which can push rates down. Trading during high-demand periods locks in better payouts.

    5. Platform Fees and Transparency

Different platforms take different margins. Some platforms advertise a high rate, then deduct hidden fees after confirmation. Hook.ng shows you the exact Naira amount you will receive BEFORE you confirm — no surprises, no deductions after the fact.

What Is an Apple iTunes Gift Card?

An Apple iTunes gift card — now officially called an Apple Gift Card — is a prepaid voucher redeemable across Apple’s ecosystem. Older iTunes-branded cards remain fully valid and widely accepted.

In Nigeria, most users cannot directly redeem these cards on Nigerian Apple IDs because Apple restricts redemption to the country where the card was issued. Selling for naira on Hook is the most practical and profitable option for most Nigerians.

What you can do with a $100 Apple gift card:

    • Buy apps, games, and in-app purchases on the App Store
    • Subscribe to Apple Music, Apple TV+, or iCloud storage
    • Purchase books, podcasts, and audiobooks
    • Buy Apple accessories on apple.com (AirPods, chargers, cases)
    • Sell it instantly on Hook for ₦105,000–₦145,000 in naira

Why Does the Naira Value Change Daily?

    1. USD/NGN Exchange Rate

Apple gift cards are dollar-denominated. When the naira weakens against the dollar, your card pays out more naira. When the naira strengthens, the payout drops. This is the biggest driver of daily rate movements.

    2. Physical Card vs. E-Code

Physical Apple cards — printed on card stock and sold in retail stores — consistently trade at a premium over e-codes in Nigeria. They are verifiable against a receipt, which reduces fraud risk for buyers and earns you a higher payout.

    3. Market Demand and Season

During festive seasons (Christmas, Eid, Black Friday), demand for Apple cards surges and rates rise. Trading during peak periods can add ₦5,000–₦15,000 to your payout on a $100 card.

How to Avoid Apple Gift Card Scams in Nigeria

Gift card fraud is widespread. Protect yourself with these rules before every trade:

    • Only trade on verified platforms like Hook — never with random Telegram or WhatsApp buyers.
    • Never share your code before payment confirmation. A legitimate platform verifies first, then pays.
    • Check your card balance before submitting to confirm the card has not already been partially redeemed.
    • Ignore rates that seem too good to be true. Scammers use inflated rates to lure sellers, then disappear after receiving the code.
    • Confirm you are on the correct URL: hook.ng — bookmark it to avoid phishing copies.
    • Read platform reviews on Google Play and the App Store before trading.

Why Your Apple Gift Card May Not Redeem

If you cannot redeem your Apple gift card on an Apple account, the most common causes are:

    • The card was issued in a different country than your Apple ID (the most common reason in Nigeria)
    • The card has already been redeemed by someone else
    • The scratch panel on a physical card damaged the code
    • The card was not activated at the point of sale
    • The code is invalid or expired

If you cannot redeem a card, selling it for naira on Hook is often the fastest way to recover its full value. Hook’s verification process confirms whether a card is valid within seconds.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a $100 Apple iTunes gift card in naira today?

As of August 2026, a $100 US Apple iTunes gift card is worth between ₦115,700–₦145,000 in Nigeria. Physical cards earn the higher end of that range. Check Hook’s rate calculator at hook.ng for the exact amount — rates update throughout the day.

Which pays more — a physical Apple card or an e-code?

Physical Apple gift cards typically pay more in Nigeria. Because they can be verified against a retail receipt, buyers price them at a premium. E-codes (digital codes) are processed faster but may receive a slightly lower rate.

How fast can I sell a $100 Apple gift card on Hook?

Hook verifies Apple gift card codes almost instantly. Most sellers receive their naira payment within 5–15 minutes of submitting a valid card. E-codes are typically faster than physical cards.

Can I use a $100 Apple iTunes gift card in Nigeria?

Nigerian Apple IDs cannot directly redeem Apple gift cards because Apple restricts redemption to accounts in the card’s country of issue. Selling the card on Hook for naira is the simplest and most profitable option for most Nigerians.

Why does the naira value change every day?

Apple gift card rates track the USD/NGN exchange rate closely. When the dollar strengthens, your card pays more naira. Platform fees, card type (physical vs e-code), and market demand also affect the daily rate. Always check Hook’s calculator before selling.

Are there hidden fees when selling on Hook?

No. Hook builds its margin into the displayed rate. The naira amount shown in the calculator is exactly what you receive — no deductions, no surprises.

What other gift cards can I sell on Hook?

Hook supports Amazon, Google Play, Steam, Razer Gold, Netflix, Xbox, PlayStation, Sephora, Vanilla, and many others. Use Hook’s rate calculator at hook.ng to check the live rate for each card before selling.
