  • How Much is A 50 Dollars Gift Card To Naira? [2024]

How Much is 50 Dollars Gift Card to Naira? Gift cards have long gone passed the sole purpose of using them to purchase goods and services from selected retail outlets. There are various uses for gift vouchers, and the most popular one in Nigeria is selling them for cash.

There are thousands of gift cards from various brands and businesses, but unfortunately, only some work in Nigeria. What do you do in this situation? Did you say, “Throw them away”? WRONG.

If you possess a gift card that cannot be redeemed for goods and services in Nigeria, you can redeem them for cash with gift card trading platforms, such as Cardtonic.

How can you do that, and how much can you get for a $50 gift card in Naira? Hold on; I’ll get to that in a second. First, let’s take a look at a brief explanation of what a gift card is.

Let’s Talk About $50 Gift Card

A gift voucher is a prepaid debit card used instead of a bank card as an alternative payment method. A gift card is issued by a brand, business or even a bank and is used just like a traditional bank debit/credit card to pay for goods and services.

It comes in two forms- a physical card and an E-code. A physical gift card is a rectangular-shaped card, which looks a lot like a bank card, while an E-code is an electronic gift card that, when purchased, is sent to your email address or phone number.  Gift cards come in various denominations, such as $50, $100, $200, $500 etc.

How Much Is 50 Dollars Gift Card To Naira?

As mentioned earlier, gift cards come in numerous denominations, and $50 is actually not the lowest denomination you can find.

Do you have a $50 gift card you want to trade for Naira, and are you wondering how much you would get for it? Well, there is no straight figure for that.

This is because there are hundreds of gift card brands out there, and they all have different trade rates.

A $50 Amazon gift card might have a different selling rate from a $50 Sephora gift card, and this is because different gift cards have different stands in the market. One gift voucher might be in demand more than another, therefore having different market rates.

Other factors that affect the rate of a gift card are the form- physical or e-code, the country it’s from, and if it has a receipt available or not.

But generally speaking, a $50 gift card is usually 541-660 NGN.

The following are some examples of gift cards and how much $50 worth is in Naira:

    • USA Amazon Cash Receipt: With a current rate of NGN665 on Hook, you will get NGN33,050.

    GIFT CARD – DEFINITION

gift card is also known as a gift certificate in North America, or gift voucher or gift token in the UK, is a prepaid stored-value money card, usually issued by a retailer or bank, to be used as an alternative to cash for purchases within a particular store or related businesses.

Gift cards are also given out by employers or organisations as rewards or gifts.

They may also be distributed by retailers and marketers as part of a promotion strategy to entice the recipient to come in or return to the store, and at times, such cards are called cash cards.

Gift cards are generally redeemable only for purchases at the relevant retail premises and cannot be cashed out, and in some situations may be subject to an expiry date or fees.

American ExpressMasterCard, and Visa offer generic gift cards that need not be redeemed at particular stores, which are widely used for cashback marketing strategies.

A feature of these cards is that they are generally anonymous and are disposed of when the stored value on a card is exhausted.

From the purchaser’s point of view, a gift card is a gift, given in place of an object which the recipient may not need, when the giving of cash as a present may be regarded as socially inappropriate.

  • What are Physical Gift Cards, Large Cards, Gift Vouchers & Ecodes?

What are Physical Gift Cards, Large Cards, Gift Vouchers & Ecodes?

In our previous post, the meaning of gift cards was explained, you can check it out here. We will be nothing the difference between, physical cards, large cards, gift vouchers, and ecodes respectively.

    Gift Vouchers / Gift Certificates

Whilst many businesses do prefer to offer gift vouchers, they have a tendency to belabor heavily compared to new gift cards and eCodes.

Gift Vouchers are typically sent or purchased in paper formats and have an authorized signature from the business issuing them, and no electronic checks in situ. If ordered online, personalization can also be available. For the presentation to be more special, they’ll be issued in a gift wallet – typically this is a thick card envelope with a differentiating graphic design (e.g. ‘Happy Birthday’)

    Physical Cards

A gift card is one of the digital assets that looks like a credit card, they are rectangular-shaped plastic cards. They have their own number or unique identifier, but they aren’t usually personalized to a person’s name like a gift voucher. Physical cards range between 10 – 400 in value. You can buy Gift Cards in a retail store, or online at a retailer’s website.

    Large Cards

On the other hand, large cards are very much the same as physical card, but the value range between 400 and above. These cards are used to purchase large items in stores. They have their own number or unique identifier, but they aren’t usually personalized to a person’s name like a gift voucher. You can buy Gift Cards in a retail store, or online at a retailer’s website.

    Branded Gift Cards

As well as the big retailers who sell Gift cards for their own wares, there are many businesses that choose to offer their own staff rewards or loyalty cards in the form of personalized, branded gift cards, for example, Justrite Gift cards, Spars Gift cards, etc. These will typically be printed with an employee’s name on them, as well as a unique identifier. This makes rewarding and incentivizing much more personal and these are usually very successful for businesses who want to reward on an ongoing basis.

    eCodes

eCodes are simply gift cards that will be delivered to mobile phones via SMS messages, email addresses, or through specific apps. These are incredibly fashionable with ‘Gen Z’ and millennial demographic groups who are keen to access goods on the move and at speed. The proliferation of free Wi-Fi and better mobile data/ roaming has enhanced this. Sometimes called virtual gift cards, eCodes are most ordinarily delivered via e-mail to a recipient, often with a personalized and branded message.

These eCodes are typically 16-digit numbers or a PIN code that are entered at checkout or on a selected website and are exchanged for goods within the same way a Mastercard would be used.
